Vortex Tool Company's XP Series is a Hit With Customers
Vortex
Tool Company, Inc. introduced the XP “Extreme Performance” Series of routing
tools in April, 2010. A year later, the XP line has proven to be a favorite with
customers, who cite the tools’ precise cutting ability and long life.
“(The XP) completely solved our laminate chipping problem,” writes one user.
“The unique compression on this bit both cleared the waste and gave us a perfect
cut.” The customer states that the tool delivered three months of
high-production cutting, “30,000 feet or more of double pass, single step
grooves. That is extraordinary for us, especially with the laminates being
produced these days (brittle and hard on tooling).”
In development of the XP bits, Vortex conducted extensive testing at the
company’s own CNC test router, evaluating nearly 100 different tool
configurations and routing over 40,000 linear feet of material purchased from a
customer.
“Carbide grade was not the answer,” says Mike Serwa, Vice President of Vortex
Tool. “We literally wiped the slate clean and started from scratch; every aspect
of the manufacturing process of this series was altered or changed completely.
This is more than just changing the carbide grade to try and get more life,”
Mike said. “We’ve completely changed the way we make this tool!”
Mike adds, “This product is guaranteed to last longer than current compression
spirals.” Vortex carries XP-series inventory of its most popular tool sizes and
designates the bits with an “XP” after the standard part number.
Vortex Tool Company, Inc., designs and manufactures a wide variety of standard
and custom high-performance router and insert cutting tools for the woodworking
and plastics industries, and provides re-tipping and sharpening services.
