For more than 25 years, Vortex Tool Company has built a reputation as an innovator, manufacturing high performance router and insert cutting tools for the woodworking and plastics industries.  From our facility in Schofield, Wisconsin, Vortex produces tools with cutting edges in various grades of carbide, stellite, high-speed steel and polycrystalline diamond, and provides custom tool design, retipping and sharpening services.

Vortex stands alone as an industry leader with many industry firsts.  Our high-quality tools, which provide higher operating speeds, significantly longer life than others and long-term value, have built our customer base of over 2,000 companies.

In 1996, we introduced our revolutionary "Viper" double-flute compression spiral for laminated materials.  In 1998, Vortex Tool designed and manufactured the industry's first triple-flute compression spiral.  In 2001, we produced the first solid carbide spiral profile tool.  In 2002, our Vortex "Tornado" rougher/finisher combination spiral stole the show at the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta, GA.  An exhibitor planning to showcase a new, high-speed CNC machine could not find any tools able to stand up to their machine's demands (feed rates up to 3500 IPM).  The manufacturer turned to the Vortex show booth and our "Tornado" tool came to the rescue, performing flawlessly.  Now that machine's manufacturer recommends Vortex tools to all purchasers of their machines to ensure design performance.

In 2004, Vortex won the Challengers Award with the first ever "DiamondBack" - polycrystalline diamond compression spiral.  At the current time, this tool is still in the developmental stage and is currently unavailable.

In 2005, Vortex has expanded our manufacturing facility to 28,000 square feet making our manufacturing capabilities even higher.

In addition to our standard line of router tools, Vortex has designed hundreds of tools for special applications.  Our ability to consistently provide solutions leaves the competition in the dust.  Our commitment to excellence is evidenced by our ongoing investment in state-of-the-art equipment, including our recent purchase of the largest CNC tool and cutter grinder in the world, enabling us to produce new tools not available anywhere else in the country!

Vortex is high on customer service, offering quick turnaround, typically two to three weeks; custom tooling services to meet your specific needs; and the personal touch you're looking for in a supplier.
